Act4Health is a community-led initiative consisting of community service providers, municipal partners, AHS Community Health, and the Vulcan Health and Wellness Foundation. Initially, Act4Health focused on cancer prevention through four pillars: healthy eating, active living, limiting UV exposure, and fostering community connections. Currently, Act4Health is involved in social prescribing, which is a holistic approach to health that connects healthcare systems with community-based programs, particularly for seniors.

Age Friendly Cold Lake began providing services to older people in the Cold Lake area in 2020. In 1998, there was an addition built on to the existing facility to accommodate the demand for hall use, for seniors and occasional rentals. We provide a safe, accessible facility for seniors to participate, learn, exercise and socialize for a minimal fee. Being a rural area there are not a lot of places for seniors to stay active and feel included. We are an all inclusive facility and try to accommodate activities that are not readily available in the area.

Our group is primarily comprised of seniors but membership is open to interested adults within community. We hold card afternoons, monthly potlucks, games nights and bingos. Group activities include Coutts Days bake sale, parade float, community barbecue, cemetery beds and group outings in surrounding area. Wear a smile, share a laugh; love life.

Foothills Country Hospice is a nonprofit organization located in southern Alberta, Canada, providing compassionate end-of-life care in a peaceful, rural setting. The hospice offers residential care, support, and palliative services to individuals with life-limiting illnesses, ensuring comfort, dignity, and emotional support for both patients and their families. The facility is staffed by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers, and its mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the needs of each individual in a serene, home-like environment.

GEF Seniors Housing is a public, not-for-profit registered charitable organization providing social housing and support services for seniors in 3,777 affordable housing units across 41 buildings located in the City of Edmonton as of January 2024. The organization is a Housing Management Body (HMB) established by Ministerial Order under the Alberta Social Housing Act, with a mandate to serve low to moderate income seniors in support of their housing needs.

We take a holistic approach to enhancing the quality of life for Black seniors in Wood Buffalo.
